Free online signature generator

Type your name in a handwritten font or draw your own signature with a mouse, finger, or stylus. Create a signature you like and download it as a transparent PNG or SVG.

Two ways to make your signature

  • Turn your name into a signature.

Try your full name, initials, or a short sign-off in signature and calligraphy fonts. Compare the generated previews, adjust the color and size, and choose lettering that stays readable wherever you use it. Compare styles side by side before choosing one for your next project.

  • Keep your own handwriting.

Draw the loops, slant, and finishing stroke yourself. Our online signature maker follows your mouse, finger, or stylus, so you can create a handwritten signature without scanning a piece of paper. Adjust ink, undo individual strokes, and refine details at your own pace.

Signature generator questions

  • What is an online signature generator?

An online signature generator creates an image of your name or handwritten mark. This signature maker offers two methods: type your name and render it in a font, or draw the signature yourself. Both methods let you download the result for use in another editor.

  • Is this signature maker free?

Yes. You can type or draw a signature and download PNG or SVG files without creating an account or paying. Downloads have no watermark.

  • How do I make a handwritten signature with my name?

Select Type signature, enter your name, and choose the Signature or Handwritten font group. Click Generate, compare the previews, and open a result to download it. If you want your own handwriting rather than a font, use Draw signature.

  • Can I draw a signature on my phone?

Yes. Select Draw signature and write with your finger or a compatible stylus. You can also use a mouse or trackpad on a computer. Use Undo to remove the last stroke and Redo to bring it back.

  • Can I download a signature with a transparent background?

Yes. Drawn signatures export on a transparent background, even though the drawing pad looks white. Typed signatures also start with transparency enabled; keep the Back toggle off before generating. PNG is usually the easiest transparent format to insert into emails and documents.

  • Which is better for a signature: PNG or SVG?

PNG works in many email, document, and image editors. SVG keeps the lettering or drawn strokes scalable for compatible design tools. Choose the format your destination supports, and check the signature at its final display size.

  • How do I add my signature to an email?

Download a PNG and insert it as an image in your email app’s signature editor. Keep your job title, contact details, and links as ordinary text. See our email calligraphy signature guide for examples and sizing advice.

  • Can I put this signature into a PDF or Word document?

You can insert the downloaded PNG into an editor that accepts images. This tool creates the signature image; it does not upload, edit, or sign a document, verify an identity, or provide a signing audit trail. Use the signing workflow requested by the recipient when those features are needed.

  • Does this use AI to generate a signature?

No. Type mode renders your text using existing fonts. Draw mode records the strokes you make on the pad. There is no AI signature-design mode.

  • Is my drawn signature uploaded?

The drawing pad and its PNG and SVG exports run in your browser; the drawn strokes are not sent to our rendering service. Type mode uses our rendering service to turn your entered text into font previews. Your work is not saved as an account project, so download it before closing or reloading the page.

  • Why does my white signature seem to disappear?

White ink blends into the white drawing pad or a light image viewer. Choose a darker ink color while drawing, or use a dark background when placing a light signature. Always check contrast against the final background.

Where to use your signature image

  • Email sign-offs.

Add a personal handwritten name beneath a message or above your contact details. Keep the rest of your email signature as readable, selectable text.

  • Letters and documents.

Place a signature image into a letter, proposal, or other document in an editor that supports PNG uploads. Follow the recipient’s required signing process when sending a document for approval.

  • Personal websites.

Use your name as a handwritten sign-off on an about page, portfolio, or author introduction. A transparent background helps the image fit the surrounding design.

  • Creative branding.

Explore a signature-style name for a personal brand, photography credit, or business card. Preview the lettering at its intended size before using it across your layouts.

  • Thank-you notes.

Finish a digital greeting, customer note, or newsletter with a short handwritten name. Use a simple font or your own drawn strokes to suit the message.

  • Signature practice.

Compare how your initials and full name look, or sketch variations with different slants and finishing strokes. Save the versions you want to revisit.

  • Presentation sign-offs.

Finish a talk, webinar, or pitch deck with your handwritten name. Place the signature beside your contact details on the closing slide for a personal final touch.

  • Artwork and photo credits.

Add a small signature to an illustration, print, or photograph in your image editor. Choose a color and size that remain readable without distracting from the work.

  • Certificates and keepsakes.

Add a handwritten name to a participation certificate, commemorative print, or personal keepsake. Use SVG in a compatible layout editor to keep the strokes sharp when resizing.

Everything you need to create a signature

  • Two signature modes.

Choose font-based lettering or freehand drawing on one page. Switching modes keeps both versions available while the page stays open.

  • Signature and cursive fonts.

Explore signature, handwritten, flourish, and brush font groups with the same name to find a style that fits.

  • Mouse and touch drawing.

Write directly on the signature pad with a mouse, trackpad, finger, or stylus, without uploading a scan.

  • Ink color and thickness.

Choose a fine or bold pen and change the color of your next stroke. Typed signatures have their own text and outline controls.

  • Undo and redo.

Remove the last stroke or restore it. Clear the pad and its undo history when you want to start again.

  • Transparent downloads.

Keep the background clear so the signature can sit on your own page or design. Drawn downloads exclude the pad and its instructions.

  • Automatic drawing crop.

Export just the drawn signature with a small margin, instead of a large empty canvas around your handwriting.

  • PNG and SVG export.

Choose a raster image for everyday placement or a scalable vector for compatible design software.

  • No watermarks.

Download a clean signature image without added logos or branding, ready to place in your own design.

  • Free to use.

Create typed or drawn signatures and download PNG or SVG files without paying for an export or subscription.

  • No signup required.

Start making your signature straight away. There is no account to create or registration form to complete.

  • Copy to clipboard.

Copy your signature as a PNG and paste it into an editor that accepts images, without downloading a file first.
